There’s times when I watch this show and I don’t even know what it is anymore. Instead of it being a show about someone meeting their wife, it’s been more of an exercise in how to drag a show out. If I’m honest, it could have ended at season five or six and no one would have complained. At one time, this show was the best out there, but they’ve recycled scenarios and jokes so many times that you can’t help but get bored.
It was refreshing to have another slaps episode, and for twenty or so minutes I felt like I was watching an episode from a previous season. It helped to change the dynamic of the season. A welcome break from the wedding and its venue! Don’t get me wrong, I’m no How I Met Your Mother hater, I just think the show has had its time, and should bow out graciously.
I did enjoy this, though…
At the same time, though, I’m excited to see what the final two episodes have to offer. No doubt, we’ll get to see Robin and Barney actually get married, and at some point it’s safe to assume Ted will meet his wife (Here’s hoping!).
I enjoyed parts of the episode, but I felt the whole slap training sillyness just dragged on and on. Let’s hope that the guys behind the show remember what’s made it so successful in the past, and stick to it for the final few outings. There’ll be plenty of opportunites for the gang to enjoy themselves, and show the support they always have at Barney’s wedding. Let’s just hope it’s a good one!
