The Originals – Season 1 Episode 17 – Moon Over Bourbon Street Review

We’re still struggling to wrap out heads around the news that Claire Holt is gone from the show here at The TV Ninja. Moon Over Bourbon Street has seen the story jump one month into the future from Rebekah’s exit, and Elijah is firmly in control. He rips up the set of rules Marcel placed on the French Quarter and has a clear voting platform. Play nice or get out.

He calls a meeting of all the different ‘factions,’ and Hayley gets pissed. Her kind aren’t represented in Elijah’s new order of things, he says that its because they no longer live in the city, but she’s having none of it. Meanwhile, Marcel has desires to take over the city again. He’s obviously pissed at Klaus for losing his lady, but he needs to wise up. Didn’t he learn anything from how easily Klaus took the city back from him?

Francesca, a local philathropist wants to lead the human faction in father Kieran’s absence, and her wish is granted. I’m sure they’re just bringing her in to lay some foundations for next season’s story, because otherwise it seems kinda random. Elijah throws a supernatural clubbing night, where all the factions come together.

I was disappointed to see that, like Marcel, Klaus has reverted back to his original plot line. He wants to take over the city using a hybrid army (sound familiar?). It’s as if all the work made this season has been undone. They’ve got some cleaning up to do before the end of season.

Hayley’s in charge of the wolf faction, and it makes sense. A strong episode from her point of view – she’s really stepping into Rebekah’s shoes and becoming the main female lead in the show. For some reason the wolves think that the moonlight right Klaus gave them could hold the key to them becoming stronger that all the other supernaturals in town.

Notes

– Marcel’s moved on quickly!

– The club night was great! Tuesday night’s at Elijah’s?
