Ninja News – FOX Renewals

Screen Shot 2014-03-11 at 15.42.55

Fox has announced some more renewals. We’ve already been given the news that Sleepy Hollow will return for a second season, and that Bones will be back for its tenth installment, but they’ve now given us a list of some more. Here goes:

-The Mindy Project

-Brooklyn Nine-Nine

-New Girl

-The Following

Seems like New Girl did enough to save itself and get back in the network’s good books. Not so sure about The Following, but I guess the fans love their Bacon.

The Mindy Project – Season 2 Episode 14 – The Desert Review

Screen Shot 2014-01-28 at 12.47.54

Mindy’s still in LA at the beginning of the Desert, dealing with the aftermath of partying with Casey. Cliff dumps her, and she’s determined to go back to New York to win back her man. Danny’s got other ideas, and says that if he’s going to see his old man, he ain’t doing it alone.

Mindy ain’t too happy when they turn up at his dad’s house instead of LAX, but she gets over it pretty quickly.

Dr P freaks when he gets stuck in the mens room with Morgan, until they overhear a heartbroken song coming from Cliff’s office. He’s beaten up about breaking up with Mindy and clearly wants to get back with her. The guys try to do Cliff a solid because they think Mindy broke up with him and after dropping a chunk of money on the bar bill, they find out he left her. Workplace romance is always going to be tough, but Mindy takes the biscuit here. She’s getting everyone else caught up in her shiz.

The most expected twist of the season came at the end of the episode, and was only done to keep us all watching. Mindy and Danny can’t be together, not in the long term. They’ve obviously been angling for this to happen later on in the series, and seeing them make out on the flight was more to do with Danny’s emotions than anything else.

Who knows what will happen next? We’ve got to wait till April, but my money’s on them taking stock of things and calling it off before it gets serious. Their back and forth is at times the only thing that makes the show worth watching, and if they got together right now, it would ruin everything. Keep in it your trousers, Castellano. The writers are going to want to drag this one out, so don’t get your hopes up Mindettes.

See you in April, Mindy Project.

Notes

– Where is Jeremy? I need some British jokes.

– Doris to Dr P and Morgan when they’re stuck in the bathroom : “I always knew this place was a gay hook-up joint.”

– “I can’t afford to put 7 mojitos on my card for a guy who did the breaking up.” Morgan.

– Will Mindy and Danny really get together?

The Mindy Project – Season 2 Episode 13 – LA Review

ImageThis week Mindy, Peter and Danny all went to LA so that they could learn more about cosmetic injectables. What’s clear from the start is that Danny couldn’t care less, and the other two want to tear it up in the City of Angels Entourage style.

Image

Recently, the show’s seen a downturn in the ratings, and there’s even been rumours that the show is circling the drain. FOX were quick to try and shut down the chatter, saying that even though the show isn’t where they want it to be in the ratings they’ll stick by it, and more importantly, by Mindy who writes the show. Who knows what’s going to happen, but I think the show will still be here next year.

Peter is obsessed with finding Maria Menounos in LA after their one night stand in New York, and fails miserably, getting on the local news in the process.

ImageMorgan finds his way onto the trip and sets off to hang out with Danny (tricking him into spending time with his father).

Mindy’s ever volatile love life comes to a head in this episode where she gets caught on camera with her ex, Casey at a party in LA – and current flame, Cliff, ain’t too happy about it.

ImageChris Messina and Ike Barinholtz made this episode for me (that, and Mindy’s Jonny Drama impression). Morgan tries to do something nice for Danny and it backfires for him, at least at first try. His trick seems to work, and it looks like Danny might cave. Developing their relationship was a good idea, because it’s the one least often visited. If anything, though, I kind of missed Dr Reed. Maybe it’s because I’m English too that I find him funny, but he cracks me up. A LOT.

Mindy’s love life is left in limbo at the end of LA, and I’m sure we’ll see it tied up soon. In two episodes time, we’ll probably have forgetten all about Cliff, and there’ll be someone else in the picture. Maybe Casey will come and open a franchise of his sneaker company in New York…

Tune in next week for all things Mindy,

The Mindy Project – Season 2 Episode 12 – Danny Castellano is my Personal Trainer Review

Image

The Mindy Project is very much like Mindy herself. There are ups and downs, mood swings and a bit of incoherence, but overall the jokes keep coming.

ImageImage

This episode was a good start to the new year, focusing on going to the gym during January. Mindy’s plan is to get in shape before a romantic getaway with her new boyfriend Cliff. This was a good idea from the writers, and is no doubt linked to the fact that a lot of people start to get into shape at this time of year.

When Mindy is told she will have to wear a bikini in January, things in the office get pretty hectic. Morgan offers to provide her with personal training, but when things fail, it is Danny who takes up the job.

The best part of the episode was Danny’s workout technique to push Mindy to the limit. Having to imagine to rescue hot Hollywood stars in dangerous situations, aka burning buildings and car crashes, makes it worth the sweat. That, and this little moment in the steam room…

ImageOnly one way out of this situation…

The Mindy Project is great because it knows what it is as a show. The scenarios are very believable, and the issues that Mindy raises apply to a lot of women. That being said, a lot of the other characters’ issues are also very real. For example, Dr Reed’s weight gain showed that it’s not only women who worry about their image.

Mindy should release a Mindy’s rhinestone workout fashion line

Can the office keep Owly as a pet?

Danny’s views on her body was an unexpected touching moment
